Rich task

While the Science and Art opt ins are running the other children complete a Rich Maths task.
This Friday we did one about ice block flavours which was appropriate for the weather we have been having!

Opt Ins: Cooking Chocolate Muffins

What a lucky coincidence that it was Zoe's birthday the same day we were doing Chocolate Muffins!  She requested blue icing and we managed to find some tricky candles that kept lighting back up when she blew them out! All of the children enjoyed making the muffins... and eating them ;)

Making Potions

Today for our science Opt In sessions we made potions. We learnt that popping candy 'crackles' in our secret recipe. We also made a huge explosion by adding vinegar and baking soda together. It was crazy. We had so much fun and the potion we first made tasted YUM. Check out our blue mouths after we drank some potion!

Swimming on a Friday

On a hot Friday afternoon we love to go swimming. With this amazing weather we love getting the opportunity to go swimming during weather like this!

Marble Run

Today we had heaps of fun making marble run tracks. We are learning the fastest way we could get the marble to the bottom. We love challenging ourselves! Check it out!

Opt Ins: Chalk Art

Today some of our Piako Rua children chose to do chalk art as their opt in.  We looked at some examples of pictures that you could draw including ourselves as part of the picture. Then we had a go at drawing them and taking pictures with us in them!!  Here is some of our cool work!!

Grayson's Lego Word

This is a new activity when we are doing Reading Must Dos and Can Dos! Grayson showed us a great example of how to make our sight words using the Lego. Thanks for your expertise Grayson!

Art Opt-In: Bubble Hydrangeas

We had so much fun blowing bubbles into dye to make our beautiful artwork this week!!  If you want to have a look at our awesome work, check out the cloak bay!!

Digging in the school flower garden

We have been learning how to recognise, and write the letter d.
So...Today was a great day for digging.

We are going to plant flowers so we can pick them for the office to brighten up people's day.
We went into the garden with the tools we needed

The flower plants were there...

 We put gloves on ...

                                          And we dug the plants in...

Look at our flower garden...

We put 'bee friendly' flower plants around the beetroot and carrot plants already planted by the gardening group.

Rachel set up and started the sprinkler to give them a drink!

Now we have to be patient and wait for them to grow...

We will regularly pop over to our garden to see how they are growing. 

We loved digging!

We can't wait to be able to pick them for giving to people!
